Platelet rich plasma (PRP) is a very low risk option used to help with acne scaring, facial volume loss, darkness under the eyes, and to increase collagen to improve fine lines and wrinkles. PRP is also used to assist with hair loss for appropriate candidates.
PRP is a natural substance produced by your own body that is isolated and re-injected to improve volume loss, less scar tissue depth, and increase collagen production. PRP is also injected in the scalp to stimulate the hair follicles to aid in hair re-growth. PRP has different growth factors to activate your own nature healing cascade and use your body’s own resources to smooth and tighten your skin.
PRP can be injected as dermal filler without risk of too much volume. This is a great skin care treatment for those who are not searching for immediate results and who want to use their body's own natural resources.
Platelet rich plasma (PRP) injections use the plasma obtained from your own blood. Simple venipuncture is performed and the blood is placed in a centrifuge to separate the red and white blood cells from the platelets. PRP is a higher concentration of your own platelets in your own plasma.
PRP is rich in growth factor to include platelet derived growth factor (PDGF), insulin like growth factor (IGF), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), platelet derived angiogenic factor (PDAF), transforming growth factor beta (TGF-b), epidermal growth factor (EGF), and Fibroblast growth factor (FGF). Platelets are components at help to clot blood and release these helpful growth factors to stimulate repair, increase collagen framework, and improve the extracellular matrix.

Results vary from person to person. Benefits can be seen for up to 18 months after injections and most see improve after 2 treatments.
Mild to Moderate. Steps to decrease discomfort are made to include topical numbing agents and to help control the natural acidity of the PRP itself. Most Patients handle this well and love the results!

Recovery times for injections is minimal. There is an increased risk of bruising with injections - the eyes and lips are always the most susceptible to bruising. But it can happen anywhere. Usually they dissipate within 1-2 weeks post injections if they do occur and will heal. Leaving you with results that last far longer.
