PRP
(Platelet Rich Plasma)
Injections and Microneedling

The use of PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) is a fairly new treatment but it is gaining popularity quick. There are two main ways to utilize PRP, injecting and Microneedling the substance into the skin. PRP injections work by stimulating the stem cells and other cells that are present in the microenvironment. PRP injections are great for hair regeneration and injecting it into the areas in the face that may have volume loss to help promote collagen production in those areas. In order to utilize the PRP the designated technician or physician will first draw blood from the patient and then use a centrifuge to split the plasma from the blood. Once that is complete they will then fill a syringe with your own plasma and begin injecting it into the desired areas. The next option is PRP with Microneedling, also known as the “Vampire Facial.” The process of Microneedling PRP into the skin is much the same as the injections as far as preparation. The technician will first draw the blood, centrifuge it, and then split the blood cells from the platelets but instead of injecting it directly into the skin they will simply drip the plasma onto the areas that will be Microneedled. Unlike the injections, the Microneedling treatment has a slight discomfort so prior to it a topical anesthetic will be applied to the area for comfort during the treatment. The Microneedling treatments are most beneficial for people who are struggling with anti-aging, fine lines and wrinkles, volume loss or people who just want a more youthful glow to them. Post treatment for PRP injections is quite simple with no down time; most people will go back to work right after their appointment. On the other hand, Microneedling with PRP does come with 2-3 days of redness and slight inflammation. Patients are more than welcome to return to work or daily activities the next day with no problem, as long as they don’t mind a little redness. PRP has many benefits and it is the safest product to put into the body since it is just that, your own body’s chemical makeup.
