Microneedling is a treatment that involves a Micropen containing a certain amount of needles that are used to penetrate the surface of the skin and boost collagen. By making small pin-prick like holes in the skin it is promoting the skin to heal and regrow new, supple skin by boosting the collagen production. Microneedling can be used to treat scars of any age, fine lines and wrinkles, acne scarring, reduce pore size and improve the overall texture of the skin. The treatments typically take anywhere from 15-45 minutes depending on the areas being treated. There is minimal pain involved with the most uncomfortable area being on the forehead due to the fact that there is less cushion between the skin and bone- besides that, it is an extremely tolerable treatment. Post-treatment the area (especially the face) will be tender and slightly red and inflamed. Keep the area hydrated with a hyaluronic acid serum or any hydrating serum advised by the technician. Patients will begin to notice improvements after the first session.
