Active acne, as annoying and unfortunate as it may be, can be treated in safe, non-invasive ways here at Progress MD. There are multiple treatments available for active acne such as, IPL treatments, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, and product treatment. Although we have seen lasting results on our patients using these methods there is no guarantee that a specific treatment will work for you. IPL treatments are perfect for targeting active acne because it is used to kill the bacteria in the skin that promotes breakouts. Using IPL will diminish the amount of active breakouts a person may experience. Typically, we will start with a series of 3-6 IPL treatments depending on the severity and or progress a patient has post-treatment. The next treatment would be a chemical peel. Chemical peels are perfect for drying out the acne and depending on the strength of the peel will determine the results a patient will see. A more superficial peel will clean up the top layers of skin and even out your skin tone while the deep peels will assist in the clean up of severe acne and can even help acne scarring. Microdermabrasion can be used to help unclog pores and clear acne. Microdermabrasion is not a stand alone acne treatment, it is mostly used to speed up the process. Lastly, Progress MD carries a two lines of skin care that may be able to assist in the everyday upkeep of one’s face. Prescribed Solutions is a line created by Biopelle which carries many items such as a cleanser, creams, serums, and even ‘Acne Boosters’ that are added into a serum to specifically target the active acne. Prescribed Solutions is our more medical line while our other line, Skin Drink by Body Dynamics, is a more natural line but is still extremely beneficial to one’s skin. Like the Prescribed Solutions there is a basic cleanser, moisturizer, and serum but Body Dynamics has acne specific products to assist targeting your problem areas such as the ‘Acne911 Zit Blast’ and the ‘Mushroom Trilogy Serum’. By combining treatment with a daily facial routine, you should be able to see improvements in your skin.
